St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Scrub - Review

St. Ives Green Tea Scrub is probably the most gentle and effective facial scrub for oily skin that I have used so far. Formulated with 100% natural green tea, it works like a charm in getting rid of dead cells and soothing skin.

St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Scrub

St. Ives Green Tea Scrub helps to gently clear breakouts and soothe irritation caused by acne. Formulated with a blemish-fighting solution and 100 percent natural green tea, the scrub exfoliates and soothes skin. Green tea also helps to protect skin from harmful environmental factors and free radicals that are known to age skin. Oil, paraben and phthalate-free. The formula is also dermatologist tested and hypoallergenic.

First thing first, I couldn’t find this St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Scrub on the official website anymore, I did, however find another product named St. Ives Blackhead Clearing Green Tea Scrub, so I suppose, St. Ives has relaunched their Naturally Clear Green Tea scrub with a new name and packaging. I’m just assuming this, nothing is confirmed yet. I’ll try finding out what happened with the good ol’ Naturally Clear Green Tea Scrub though.

Covering the basics, the product comes in a traditional flip open plastic tube. The product you get is 133 ml, which is pretty good for the humble price you pay. The active ingredient of the scrub is 1% salicylic acid which is known best for acne prone skin. When applied on skin, salicylic acid penetrates deep into the pores to neutralize bacteria that maybe the cause of your acne. In addition to that, salicylic acid also help in shedding dead cells from the upper most layer of your skin. But as I mentioned in one of my earlier posts, salicylic acid takes some time to show its effects on the skin. So, what I do is, I leave the scrub on my skin for a minute or two before rinsing it off.
Another major ingredient of the scrub is natural green tea, which is known for its healing benefits since ancient times. Green tea not only soothes your acne/pimple or any redness you may have on your skin, it is also rich in antioxidants which of course reduces skin aging.

What I like best about this product is that exfoliating beads in St. Ives Green Tea Scrub are really really gentle and don't feel harsh against the skin. I use it two times a week prior to going bed, followed by a toner and moisturizer. I’m extremely happy with the results I get from this product.

Amazing Points

  • Formulated without parabens and phthalates.
  • Not tested on animals, hence cruelty free.
  • Does not contain animal ingredients, it makes it ideal for all those people who prefer vegan products only.
  • Affordable price tag.
  • Gentle exfoliating beads are suitable for sensitive skin.

Not So Amazing Points

  • It definitely clears breakouts but cannot be used as a medication to cure active acne.

Would I repurchase? If I could find this exact product in the market again, then definitely yes. If I don’t find it, I’ll get the other blackhead clearing green tea scrub displayed on the website and will see if it’s similar in performance than the one I use.

I'll rate it a 5/5

St. Ives products are available easily in Pakistan in almost all leading beauty stores. Internationally you can get them from Ulta. I got mine from Shaheen Cosmetics Islamabad in 390 PKR/-

Have you used any scrub by St. Ives? How did you find them? How often do you exfoliate your skin and what’s your most favourite product for getting the job done? Don’t forget to leave your feedback.

    1. Thank you Anna. I also like how gentle it feels. Some of the scrubs I purchased earlier, ended up being used as body scrubs because they were too harsh for the facial skin. xx
